🧠

Inner Game Domination: Mastering Your Mindset

This module focuses on understanding the internal battleground of confidence and how to shift your inner dialogue towards empowerment. We will explore techniques from self-reflection to embracing discomfort, all aimed at cultivating a stronger mindset.

Acknowledge the Inner Struggle

Daily

Recognize that building confidence is an internal battle. Identify your inner critic and its limiting beliefs. Alternative Approach: If acknowledging your inner critic feels triggering, try focusing on identifying your strengths instead. List three things you are good at.

“Confidence is an inner battle, an inner struggle, an inner war that only you can fight.”

Silence the Bragging: Embrace Humble Confidence

Daily

Focus on internal confidence rather than external validation. Avoid boasting or comparing yourself to others. This action builds confidence by shifting your focus from seeking external approval to recognizing your own intrinsic worth. This is a daily affirmation exercise designed to internalize feelings of worth. If you feel the need to comment/brag/etc., try instead to comment with encouragement or a congratulations to others in similar situations.

“Don't put a target on your head by telling everybody that I'm going to be the best now I'm better than you I'm better than messi I'm better than no there's no need for that that shows insecurity.”

Embrace the Unknown: Gradual Progress

Daily

Take things slowly and calmly, gradually moving into unfamiliar situations to build confidence. This action gradually builds confidence by repeated, managed exposure to uncomfortable situations. Start small, and recognize the progress.

“Take things slowly calmly and slowly move in to the unknown. That's how you get your confidence up and that'll make you a super bowler.”

🌍

Environment Shift: Engineering Your Confidence

This module focuses on modifying your environment to create challenges and simulate game-like pressure in training. This will improve performance and help you feel more comfortable in game-time situations.

Seek Challenges: Embrace Discomfort

Weekly

Actively seek out situations that challenge you to promote growth and build confidence. This action builds confidence by repeated experience in challenging situations, by changing how the stimulus is received and processed..

“If you're in a place where you are not challenged you can put yourself in situations that will make you a better person and a better player.”

Raise the Stakes: Simulate Game Pressure

Weekly

In training, introduce elements of pressure (e.g., bets, consequences) to mimic the intensity of games. This helps you become acclimated to perform under pressure.

“You've got to raise the stakes. You've got to raise the stakes in training... I bet against another one of my teammates okay dinner drinks this that whatever you've got to raise the stakes to a point that will make you want to win all right and by doing that it will completely throw everything out because the focus on winning is what will keep stage fright at bay.”

🎭

New Identity: Becoming the Confident You

This module guides you through creating a new identity that embodies confidence and helps you activate that persona on the field. This approach leverages behavioral economics and reframing to help you feel like 'the confident you'.

Stay Uncomfortable: Embrace Growth

Weekly

Actively seek out situations that make you uncomfortable, pushing your boundaries and expanding your comfort zone. Note that this is a weekly, longer-form reflection of the daily practice in Module 1. Track your progress in a journal.

“You've got to stay uncomfortable and you've got to love staying uncomfortable because pretty soon being uncomfortable is going to get normal and then you are just a fearless leader.”

Choose Your Idol: Embody Confidence

Weekly

Select a role model who embodies the confidence you aspire to have. Study their behaviors and mindset. This is a loss-aversion approach. Seeing people who embody these features may help drive your motivation to change.

“Pick your idol. You want to pick somebody from from history you know doesn't matter.”

The Mental Switch: Activate Your Persona

Daily

Develop a trigger (e.g., a physical gesture, a phrase) to instantly switch into your confident persona. This is a critical component in solidifying and externalizing your new identity. The trigger is a physical action and associated habit-building, to leverage perceived effort.

“When you get to the field you have to turn that on there has to be a switch and you can even make it something you do if you see all the players doing this sign of the cross they're doing this they're kissing this and the chain and all that stuff a lot of them are just getting into a mental state of this persona that they are and if you can tap into that you will be a super bowler.”
